A lot of fans present at the E3 2016 event were hyped upon hearing "Crash Bandicoot" making a comeback. After all, it's confirmed that the game will have a remastered version for "Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and Warped," the three most popular games in this series.

With this, a chain of rumors suddenly ignited online, most of them, in some form or another, relate that there will be a new sequel for the game. After all, Crash Bandicoot, the iconic character in this titular series, has always been popular and at one point was the mascot for the PlayStation, so in most fans' heads, they're already set to believe that, indeed, a new sequel might be in the works.

According to Game Rant, there aren't that many barriers for Sony in order to bring out new "Crash Bandicoot" games in the future. However, that might largely depend on the popularity of these game remasters, but the likelihood of success for it won't be a long shot.

The same article, however, states that there's a complication that may prevent a "Crash Bandicoot" sequel from ever launching: the current situation of where exactly the whole franchise's rights currently sit. After all, the current holder for its rights is Activision, the game's publisher. As such, with Naughty Dog and Sony not having any hold on the game, it's entirely up to Activision to release a sequel.

However, with the way things are going right now, Activision might actually have plans for this character after all. According to Warp Zoned, Crash Bandicoot, as well as another famed character, Spyro the Dragon, will make an appearance this year in the PlayStation 3 and 4 game "Skylanders Imaginators: Crash Edition."

Regardless, fans are still hopeful about this game's return. But for now, the remastered versions of the "Crash Bandicoot" trilogy will have to do once it's released to the PlayStation. As for the release date, it's only confirmed to be sometime in 2017.
