"Criminal Minds" season 12 will reportedly be bringing back a couple of characters to the show. A report from TVLine has confirmed that Paget Brewster will be reprising her role as Emily Prentiss for several episodes, although it is unconfirmed how many episodes she will be in.

"We're excited to have Paget Brewster back for multiple episodes in our 12th season," explained showrunner Erica Messer during the CBS San Diego Comic-Con panel. "The BAU can use more help this year since they've got a lot of known and unknown subjects to catch."

The actress later reiterated her return via Twitter when she announced she was coming back. The actress had become available for "Criminal Minds" following the announcement that Fox was not going to renew her recent show, "Grandfathered."

She was last seen as a mainstay on "Criminal Minds" back in season 7 but did return for short appearances from time to time, notably in season 9 and in season 11. Her return comes also comes right after the departure of Derek Morgan, played by Shemar Moore.

However, a report from Chatt Sports Net reveals that Moore might be coming back for season 12, although there are no confirmations of this at the time being. As stated in the report, the showrunner and writers have not killed Derek, keeping the doors open for him to eventually return although this come back might not be in season 12.

Back in March, Moore revealed that it was his decision to leave "Criminal Minds" and that the decision was made in order to further his career. 

"I'm just ready to grow," Moore explained. "I just want to leap. And I don't know where I'm going to land, but I believe that I'm going to land. I'm not leaving to go be a big star. I'm not leaving to go make a bunch of money. I'm leaving because I just creatively want to be fueled and am excited to try new things and see what else I'm capable of."

"Criminal Minds" season 12 will premiere this Sept. 28.
