'CSI' season 15 episode 1 premiere: - Finlay trapped in a car with a bomb, Gig Harbor Killer is back

"CSI" Season 15 premiere will debut with a bang, literally. CBS released the promo for the first episode, "The CSI Effect," and it's one intense sneak peek.

The preview for "The CSI Effect" shows Finlay getting inside her car when she is automatically locked in.  Then a bomb starts ticking. Russell looks very concerned as he tries to find a way to get Finlay out of that car.

The official synopsis for "The CSI Effect" reads: "Finlay must deal with a bomb planted in her car, while Russell gets a call from someone claiming to be the Gig Harbor killer."

It isn't sure whether the Gig Harbor Killer is actually the one who put the bomb on Finlay's car. It also is a question if Russell was able to catch the Gig Harbor Killer before. If he did, is this just a copycat trying to get some attention? If he didn't, then the Gig Harbor Killer may be plotting some revenge. Further, it is also unsure if Finlay and the Gig Harbor Killer's stories are two different story arcs for the new season.

In the last part of the trailer, it can be seen that the bomb only has one second left. Could it mean death for Finlay? This is doubtful. Finlay won't be killed off that easily, so it would be great to see how Russell and the team get her out of there. Also, Mark Valley is reported to be joining "CSI" Season 15 as the private detective who will work with Finlay, which was earlier reported by Entertainment Weekly. Thus, Finlay will definitely be around for the entire season.

Fashion and Style does offer a theory on the preview. Could the bomb be a fake one and was just put there to be a distraction for Russell? Maybe the Gig Harbor Killer is up to something, and he wants Russell's hands to be tied on the bomb threat.

"CSI" Season 15 airs Sept. 28 on CBS. If you miss the season premiere, be sure to watch it online via live stream on CBS.
