Comedic duo Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are hoping to redeem themselves with "Daddy's Home 2." The initial movie "Daddy's Home" in 2015 did not sit well with critics and fans. The plot revolves around Dusty Mayron (Wahlberg) and Brad Whitaker (Ferrell) setting their differences aside and becoming fathers themselves. However, for the sequel, Dusty and Brad are troubled with their own dads coming for Christmas.

The original movie received a 31% rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 2 out of 5 score from Common Sense Media. Most critics agree that the movie was predictable and somehow, a cliché. Despite bad reviews, "Daddy's Home" earned $38 million after its premiere date.

Actor and director Mel Gibson will play Dusty's cool and rad dad, Kurt. Just like Brad, Mr. Whitaker a goofy and gullible old man, will be portrayed by actor John Lithglow. The movie will also feature more screen time for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star John Cena as Roger, the biological father of Dustin's stepdaughter. Brad and Dusty once again compete with each other with new coaches in their corners, and even a new competitor jumping in.

With a large ensemble, fans are hoping for a more dynamic chemistry among the characters. People are also urging the production team to eliminate elements that will make the second movie a predictable comedy flick. There are also suggestions from fans to introduce more women main characters in the movie.

The collaboration of Wahlberg and Ferrell started in 2010 with the action comedy film "The Other Guys." This movie received better ratings compared to "Daddy's Home" and fans immediately wanted more from Wahlberg and Ferrell together. The sequel will also be directed by "Daddy's Home" director, Sean Anders. Fans are excited to see what is in-store for them and if the movie will have a third installment. If there would be a third movie for the franchise, many movie goers would love to see the grandmothers in action.
