"Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall" has now had a new life breathed into it, as the game's Unity graphics engine port has been improved and coupled with a complete main quest line.

Independent developer Gavin "Interkarma" Clayton has finally released a stable version of the "Daggerfall" port which is aptly named "Daggerfall Unity." The remaster was done due to popular demand since 1996's "Daggerfall," to this day, is still being considered by many fans as one of the best "Elder Scrolls" games despite the popularity of "Skyrim." DSO Gaming even argued that one of the best ways to experience "Daggerfall" is through the Unity port since Bethesda, the game's official developer, has not released a remaster or any plans for it.

Clayton has updated "Daggerfall Unity" with new high-resolution textures, better visuals, and more importantly, mouse-look, which allows players to control the point of view using the mouse instead of the keyboard, a functionality which the original "Daggerfall" severely lacked. In addition to the gameplay and graphics features, the main quest of the game, which can also be seen on the original version, can now be played from start to finish.

Doing this in-game for existing characters, though, is easier said than done, as players will have to go thorugh several coding parameters in order to trigger the main quest. Players will have to use the "setmqstage n" on the console command interface which they can summon using whichever keyboard key it is mapped to, usually the "~" key. The "n" in the command parameter stands for the phase of the main quest, of which there are seven, so players will have to choose between numbers "1" to "7" as a replacement for the parameter in order to trigger a specific quest stage.

However, if those instructions are too complex, players can simply start a new game, as Clayton suggested since that is easier and less complicated.

"Daggerfall Unity" is available for download at the Daggerfall Workshop Website, for those who may be interested.
