Quarterback Brandon Weeden is no longer jobless as the Houston Texans reportedly claimed him off waivers a day after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys with Tony Romo set to return from injury.

Weeden was the Cowboys' backup to Romo entering the 2015 season until the latter suffered a broken collarbone in their Week 2 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles which forced him to leave the game.

The 32-year-old quarterback stepped up against the Philadelphia Eagles and performed well to seal the win, also earning him the starting nod in Romo's absence.

Unfortunately, Weeden was unable to follow up his great performance versus Philadelphia and struggled in all the three games he started, which all led to losses.

Because of this, the Cowboys resorted to signing veteran passer Matt Cassel who later took over the starting duties at the quarterback position.

Weeden then lost the role and with Romo returning, the Cowboys no longer saw the need to keep him hence releasing him to free up a roster spot.

In four games played for Dallas this season, Weeden had 71 completions for 738 yards and two touchdowns, also throwing two interceptions.

But Weeden did not wait long to find a new team as the Texans, who are having an injury problem with their starting quarterback Brian Hoyer, claimed him off waivers, according to USA Today

According to the report, a person with knowledge about the transaction shared the information but the move has not been officially announced yet.

Hoyer suffered a concussion in their huge win over the Cincinnati Bengals and is undergoing the National Football League's (NFL) concussion protocol program.

That left Houston with T.J. Yates as their main quarterback heading to Sunday's game against the New York Jets with Hoyer still uncertain.

Yates performed well facing Cincinnati when Hoyer left the game and even succeeded on the touchdown pass that sealed the victory for them.
