A return for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is looming as he participated in his first practice today, Wednesday, since suffering a collarbone injury in Week 2 which spelled doom for the team.

The Cowboys were 2–0 with Romo but after the injury, they went downhill losing their next five games and are currently at 2–5 which places them last in the National Football Conference (NFC) East.

Dallas head coach Jason Garrett had said Matt Cassel would still be their starting quarterback, but they were already talking about the activities Romo would be doing for this week's practice.

"We're just talking about getting Tony some work in individual work, throwing the ball, maybe the scout team seven-on-seven. We haven't firmed any of that up yet, but that's what the preliminary discussions have been," Garrett explained, according to the team's website.

ESPN reported that Romo has been throwing lightly on the sidelines in the past two weeks with the Cowboys looking to monitor the four-time Pro Bowler to determine the workload they would be giving him in upcoming practices.

The 35-year-old quarterback will be eligible to suit up again for the Cowboys when they take on the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 22.

In Romo's absence, the Cowboys had Brandon Weeden and Cassel take the starting duties at the quarterback position.

Weeden struggled starting the first three games without Romo and Cassel is not doing a better job taking over in their past two games.

In two games started, Cassel has 30 completions for 324 yards and one touchdown, with three interceptions which were all thrown in Week 7's 27–20 defeat to the New York Giants.

Despite the good news of Romo returning to practice, the Cowboys will still have to wait for some time before their franchise quarterback can return to action.

Playing only in their first two games of the season, Romo had 54 completions for 551 yards and three touchdowns, with two interceptions.
