The latest Dallas Cowboys roster rumors suggest that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is headed to the Texas. His current team is reportedly looking to let him go for various reasons.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports says, via Pro-Football Talk, that Kaepernick might be out of the roster "in the next two weeks." This is not because he has recently made headlines for refusing to stand for the national anthem, at least not initially.

"I'd be shocked if he's on the 49ers by the time this season ends," Glazer said, but was quick to emphasize that "it has nothing to do with political views."

"He lost a ton of weight this offseason, had three surgeries, couldn't work out, lost that double threat, that size-speed ratio. No political views, he just hasn't been effective. He's regressing as a player," he went on to say.

While his latest controversy may have solidified the decision of the San Francisco 49ers to let him go, the team has long been fixated on doing so as Kaepernick kept losing ground as a valuable quarterback.

According to Sportsrageous, the Dallas Cowboys could be going for Kaepernick as the team is looking for someone to fill in the role of quarterback following Tony Romo's injury.

However, it is unclear if this will still be the case if Kaepernick continues to underperform. However, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports says that the quarterback still continues his decline even this offseason, where the team expected him to be back with renewed energy.

Kaepernick is still guaranteed $11.9 million in his contract with the 49ers. Unless the team could no longer handle his regression, the quarterback will be off shopping for a new team soon.

As for the Cowboys, the plans to take their chances on free agents first before trying out trade deals. They looked at the possibility of bringing in Josh McCown but the Cleveland Browns, but his asking price ended the discussions.
