Both the Buffalo Bills and the Dallas Cowboys will already be looking back at how this season has gone and will be wondering what went wrong. The Bills were supposed to be rock solid in defense under new coach Rex Ryan, but that has not gone the way they had hoped.

The Cowboys as well had big hopes for this season and would have set their sights on the postseason, but those hopes have now long been extinguished and Dallas has suffered one of their worst seasons in recent memory, entering this week on a lowly 4-10.

Dallas have not lost 11 games in a season since way back in 2002, and at the moment could potentially fall as low as 12 losses for this year.

Cowboys' coach Jason Garrett has now overseen the team missing out on the postseason five times in his six seasons in charge. Ahead of today's game he has said, "We all start with aspirations. For some teams it works out and you get to play in the playoffs. For us this year that is not going to happen. But that doesn't diminish the work everyone has put in."

Earlier this week on Saturday night, the NFC East division was all but concluded, with the Washington Redskins defeating the Philadelphia Eagles to confirm themselves as division champions.

The Redskins clinched the division title, and with it a postseason spot, with a comfortable 38-24 win. Their appearance in the Playoffs this season will be their first since the 2012 season, and comes as a surprise as not many had predicted the Redskins would take the NFC East at the start of the season.

The result means the 8-7 Redskins will play a home Playoff game against the No. 5 seeded team in the NFC. At the moment that would mean a match up against the Seattle Seahawks, which would be a massive challenge as they have made huge strides in the second half of the season and at the moment look like one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

If the results in the coming few weeks shake things up more though, then the Redskins could get a game against the 9-5 Minnesota Vikings, which is another daunting prospect for Washington. However, at the moment the Redskins may just want to enjoy the fact that they're back in the postseason and whoever it turns out they face, what will be will be.

Kirk Cousins has been one of the core reasons the Redskins have managed to surprise people this season, and he has played above everyone's expectations. On Saturday night he completed 31 of 46 throws for 365 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.

At the start of the season, the Redskins suffered poor form through their opening six games. During that period, Kirk Cousins threw eight interceptions, where as in the nine games since he threw just three.

They will need the new improved Kirk Cousins if they are to make an impact in the Playoffs.
