Dallas Mavericks NBA 2015 news: LaMarcus Aldridge is theirs to lose; San Antonio or Dallas?

LaMarcus Aldridge is moving out of Portland and his next stop is looming to be Texas. The question is, which part of Texas? San Antonio or Dallas?

The San Antonio Spurs were the first ones to indicate their interest on the 30-year-old Portland center but the Dallas Mavericks entered the picture not far behind. And if true, it looms that Aldridge is leaning more on joining the Mavericks which should be good news for Dallas fans and of course Mark Cuban.

San Antonio has already mapped out plans to accommodate Aldridge though everything has been mum at the moment since a lot of their plans could materialize by July.

The same case holds true for the Dallas Mavericks who may have to unload some players to free up some cap space.

Among the players that the Mavericks may unload are Tyson Chandler and Monta Ellis.

Chandler could be primed for a reunion with Jason Kidd at Milwaukee if the Mavs cut him while Ellis is bound to get some suitors once the Mavs let him go.

With the two out, such could make the Mavericks salary situations a bit flexible and thus allowing them to welcome Aldridge into the fold.

But the rebuilding for the Mavs may not stop there as they would have to fill in key positions in the roster if they are to be competitive next season. It all starts with the point guard which may be vacated by Ellis.

Jeremy Lin has been mentioned as a potential candidate. Although Raymond Felton and JJ Barrea could fill it up ably, the loss of Ellis and the expected exit of Rajon Rondo will require the Mavs to get a point guard.

Aldridge's coming will be useless unless the Mavs plug in all the holes of the team. Money shouldn't be a problem but the thing is, Aldridge wants an NBA title (or at least figure in the NBA playoffs) – a reason why he wants to move out of Portland in the first place.
