Steve Nash has long announced his retirement from the National Basketball Association (NBA), but it seems that some teams were stubborn enough to try and lure the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) a couple of months ago.

The Dallas Mavericks reportedly tried to woo Nash out of retirement back in June when the Canadian and friend Dirk Nowitzki played in an annual charity basketball game. Word has it that the Mavericks were considering Nash as a spot-duty point guard.

Although the Mavs and Nash didn't exactly part on good terms, the idea would have been nifty to think about seeing Nash playing (a bit) for the Mavericks and probably retire by the same time that Nowitzki would, if ever the German cage star would retire after this season.

Another team that considered Nash was the Cleveland Cavaliers back in March. The team's general manager David Griffin and former director of player administration Raja Bell reportedly tried to convince Nash to seek a buy-out from the Lakers, but apparently things didn't push through.

Nash announced his retirement on March 21, 2015 after admitting that his body couldn't take the rigorous toll of NBA basketball. After joining the Lakers in 2012, Nash struggled to finish an NBA season and was beset by injuries that kept him out of the hardwood.

Rather than play, Nash had to satisfy himself by mentoring upstarts like Jordan Clarkson and it seems that this has become his calling.

Just last week, Nash was reportedly being wooed by the Golden State Warriors as a part-time player development consultant which would reunite him with Steve Kerr. Both were together in Phoenix before.

Nash, who made it clear that he had no plans to be a head coach, could be headed to the Bay Area soon, seeing that it could be a homecoming of sorts. Nash played for Sta. Barbara for a couple of years before eventually applying for the NBA Draft back in 1995.
