'Dance Moms' season 8 news: The Lifetime show is still in limbo
The seventh season of "Dance Moms," the reality television series by Lifetime, aired its final episode in October of last year. With dance instructor Abby Lee Miller still in prison, it is unknown if there will be an eighth season. However, Miller seems to have hinted at a return to the series once she is released.
In 2015, Miller was indicted for bankruptcy fraud for failing to fully disclose her financial circumstances and hiding her full income. In 2016, she reached a plea deal with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in which she was to plead guilty to the charges against her. Eventually, Miller was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, with the opportunity to transfer from prison and into a halfway house after 10 months of her sentence.
Miller was then scheduled to be transferred to a halfway house on Feb. 20, but it was reported that her release date was pushed back indefinitely.
However, it seems possible that she may return to "Dance Moms" once she is done serving her sentence. Early in February, Miller posted a photo of herself on Instagram, with the caption "Missing my studio today. Can't wait to get back to teaching #dance #dancemoms #abbyleemiller #abbylee."
Miller had also previously posted a photo of herself the Victorville Federal Correctional, which has now been deleted. Fans have since wondered how the reality television star was able to access her Instagram in prison, although it is likely that someone else is running her social media accounts for her.
Thus, if someone else wrote that caption, it is possible that Miller does not actually intend to return to "Dance Moms" once she is released from prison. Last year, she posted on Instagram that she will no longer work on "Dance Moms," although Lifetime did not confirm whether or not this is true.
However, choreographer and "Dance Moms" cast member Gianna Martello told Hollywood Life that Miller has threatened to quit numerous times, although she always came back to the show.
With Miller's release date still pending and with no word on an eighth season of "Dance Moms" from Lifetime, it seems that the show is in limbo at least for now. While Lifetime has not announced an eighth season, it has not announced the show's cancellation either. Thus, season 8 may still be possible, although it may come later rather than sooner.
