'Daredevil' season 1: All 13 episodes released on Netflix

Charlie Cox as DaredevilNetflix

Netflix has launched its new "Daredevil" series, starring Charlie Cox as the titular character, Vincent D'Onofrio as the villain Kingpin, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Paige, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson.

The series is not connected by any means to the 2003 film  starring Ben Affleck, but it will retain the same premise of a blind lawyer named Matt Murdock who turns into a vigilante known as the Daredevil at night. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will have a few connections to the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Executive Producer Steven DeKnight told EW that Marvel wanted the series to stand alone, meaning viewers do not have to see any of the Marvel films beforehand in order to understand the events in the series. The only big effect the MCU has on the show is the alien attack on New York during the first "Avengers" film since "Daredevil" takes place in New York as well.

"It's part of the Marvel Universe, but it doesn't build on that. That said, there are a ton of Easter eggs," DeKnight told the publication.

Some of the Easter eggs fans can look out for include the rumored guest appearances of characters from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and that some of the main characters in the show have ties to others in the MCU. One example is Claire Temple, the ex-wife of superhero Luke Cage. Luke Cage is also getting has his own series in development on Netflix.

Season 1 of "Daredevil" will not primarily use the iconic red devil suit that the character wears in the comics. Promotional material for the series shows Matt Murdock wearing a black ninja suit but it has been hinted that the red suit will come into play before the finale airs.

"You will seen an evolution from what you've seen in the trailers from the black ninja costume," Cox stated during an interview with USA Today. "You'll see an evolution into something that more resembles the classic Daredevil superhero costume. I can't say more than that."

All 13 episodes of "Daredevil" are available for streaming via Netflix.
