Marvel's "Daredevil" for TV garnered enough viewership that Netflix already decided to continue the title all through its second season. In a press statement, Netflix confirmed the second season to roll out next year. Although no specific dates were mentioned, fans expect the upcoming season to be aired around April, about the same time as the first one.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a new character will make his appearance in season 2. Jon Bernthal has been cast to play the role of The Punisher. Although it is very different from the actor's most recent role as Shane Walsh in another hit TV series, "The Walking Dead," Bernthal has been reported to be meticulously studying for the role, with a lot of research and comic book reading.

Aside from The Punisher, another character that is closely related to the main protagonist is set to be introduced during the course of the second season. Season 2 will usher in Elektra, a character already alluded to in the first season. She is a mysterious woman from main character Matt Murdock's past, and if the story will stay true to its comic book roots, she is a ninja assassin that steals both the Daredevil's attention and his heart.

Elektra will be played by "GI Joe: Retaliation's" Elodie Yung. Speaking about the casting of the female assassin, Jeph Loeb, one of the show's executive producers and head of Marvel Television, said that Yung is perfect for the role.

"After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity," he stated. "Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."
