'Daredevil' season 2 spoilers, plot: Matt, Karen and Elektra love triangle?

Will Matt be torn between two gorgeous women in "Daredevil" season 2?Netflix

Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox) will find himself choosing between Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) when "Daredevil" returns for its second season.

Movie Pilot reports that a love triangle may be in order for the superhero after set photos of him and Karen made rounds online. An onlooker reportedly posted a series of images where the two could be seen holding hands. While it was certainly possible that Matt and Karen were involved in an undercover investigation in that scene, for some, it looked like they were out in a date.

In the Marvel comics, Karen fell in love with Daredevil after he saved her life. In as much as the program does not particularly follow the original storyline, fans think that her developing of special feelings for the superhero's alter ego is entirely feasible. In an interview with Nerdist, Woll said she appreciated the writers' decision to not let her character fall in love with someone right away.

"I like that we didn't jump in real fast with the romance aspect of it. I think that it's good to establish all of these characters on their own before we start associating them as couples," said Woll.

If the love story is indeed in the works for Matt and Karen, the latter will find herself competing for his affections with none other than Elektra. Also one of Daredevil's love interests in the comics, Elektra is slated to join the superhero's world in the upcoming installment. It is still unsure, however, if the writers are going to base her storyline on the original plot.

Executive producer Joe Quesada, in an interview with IGN, chose to remain mum about Elektra's part in the Marvel series and how she would interact with Matt. What he did reveal was that with Yung's martial arts background, she would make an awesome Elektra.

"She is the character. She looks like the character. She walks like the character. It's going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra," he said.

"Daredevil" season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
