The frozen world of Ariandel will soon arrive to "Dark Souls III" as the first expansion pack and is scheduled for an Oct. 25 release. "Ashes of Ariandel" will let players uncover the truth of what has destroyed the region and destroy whatever has taken root in the land.
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco has officially revealed the first of two expansion packs that will arrive in the game which will feature a new environment that will also bring forth new challenges, bosses, and enemies. It is speculated that the DLC story will be an engaging one and will further expand the game's existing story. Players will then receive new armor sets and new weapons, and players can also learn new magic skills that could be useful in the barren land.
Additionally, fans will have a new place to test their skills and abilities against other human players. A new PVP (player-versus-player) area called Immortal Competition will also arrive with "Ashes of Ariandel."
A trailer was released for the upcoming DLC which many players find similar to "Painted World of Ariamis," an optional quest in the original "Dark Souls" game. It even showed an enemy similar to the crow demons called Corvians.
The expansion pack's vague description says, "Players are tasked to enter this new world and defeat the evil within and uncover the mystery of what has caused the land to become defiled. "
Since the developer released no further details, fans are speculating that Ariendel will be accessible via the giant painting in Anor Londo. The trailer shows a player walking on a wooden bridge towards the tower, which is very similar to the on in Painted World. Fans also noticed the similarity between the new boss and the Corvians.
Fans are expecting to learn more details about the upcoming expansion pack as its release date gets closer.
The "Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel" DLC will be available on Oct. 25 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and it is currently available for pre-order.
