'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date: First DLC to launch in fall

Dark Souls 3From Software, Bandai Namco

The Season Pass for "Dark Souls III" is now available on Steam, and as stated in a report from Videogamer, it has been revealed when fans can expect to get their hands on the upcoming DLC packs for the game. However, only a vague time frame has been stated instead of a more specific release schedule.

The Season Pass, when it was initially leaked, indicated that the first DLC will launch by fall and many fans have speculated that a late August to early September might be the exact schedule for the DLC to release. As for the latter DLC pack it is stated that it will launch sometime after.

Fans have begun speculating that this means the second DLC will launch by the holidays, ensuring that the last DLC for "Dark Souls III" arrives before the end of the year. Both DLC packs will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses and weapons.

While the Season Pass costs $25, there is no definitive price set for the individual DLC packs. Those who do pre-purchase the Season Pass now will be able to download both DLC packs for free when they are officially relesaed. As it is with all Season Passes for other video games, buying the Season Pass will be more affordable than buying the two DLC packs individually.

At this point in time it is undetermined what the content of the two DLC packs will be except for the likelihood of additional locations and weapons given that past DLC packs for the previous games have done the same.

In a report from Gamespot, the developers also hinted that when the DLC packs are released the "Dark Souls" franchise will officially be done with. Instead of working on more DLC or a potential "Dark Souls IV," the developers at From Software will instead focus solely on a brand-new IP.
