"Dark Souls" fans have been fishing for information since it was announced that two expansion packs will arrive in the third game of the series. It was earlier rumored that the first one will arrive by September; now, it is suggested that it may arrive earlier, later this month.

Since "Dark Souls 3" was released last April, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, the game developer and publisher, have remained tight-lipped with regards to its expansion packs. Very little information gets out into the open, and it was only its game director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, who speaks often about the game.

Several reports are saying that the first DLC should be expected to arrive by end of August, instead of the previously rumored September release. However, the most recent interview with Miyazaki last month, courtesy of Kotaku, did not mention any specific month for the release date; rather it will reportedly be in the autumn season of the year.

Miyazaki said, "The first is scheduled for release in autumn of 2016, and the second is scheduled for early 2017. We're actually still working on the first one."

He also revealed a little bit of what to expect from the soon-to-arrive expansion pack.

He said "Content-wise, it builds off of the previous titles and will be featuring a new area, enemies, gear, and story. The game story revolves around a new location which I believe will offer a different feel from Dark Souls 3. Please stay tuned!"

He was reluctant to reveal any information prior to answering the question about the upcoming expansion pack, and he mentioned, "I'm not sure I can provide "information" without spilling the "surprise" [laughs]. The only thing I can say now is that we're planning two DLCs for 'Dark Souls 3.'"

"Dark Souls 3" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. This is the last game in the series.
