The list of Xbox 360 games being added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program continues to grow as a Xbox's Larry Hyrb aka Major Nelson has announced via the Xbox blog that the original "Dark Souls" is now being added. 

According to a report from Gamespot, Bandai Namco initially announced that the first "Dark Souls" would be joining the Backward Compatibility list sometime soon, right around the same time they announced that "Dark Souls III" was in the works and was going to launch for the current-generation consoles. 

Players who already own the physical disc of "Dark Souls" will be able to play it on their Xbox One by simply keeping the disc in the tray and downloading the needed data from the Microsoft Xbox Store in order for the Xbox One to read the disc's data.

Others may simply search the newly implemented feature in the store that allows players to search, buy, download and play Xbox 360 games that have already been added to the list of Backward Compatibility titles.

Consumers who pre-order "Dark Souls III" will also be given a free copy of the original "Dark Souls" and it is expected that this free copy will be the digital version that can be downloaded for free with the included promo code instead of giving players an old physical Xbox 360 game disc.

"Dark Souls" is also being launched alongside "Tekken Tag Tournament 2," another game by Namco Bandai. 

It is noted in the report that this is the second batch of games added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list this week, as the list was just updated with the inclusion of the original "Assassin's Creed" and "Dark Void." It is further stated that the games are not launched on a monthly basis but are made available on the Xbox store the moment they are ready and that there is no pre-determined schedule.
