Avid gamers of "Dark Souls II" may have to wait until late this month or early October for the final chapter of the "Lost Crowns" trilogy.

Game publisher Bandai Namco reportedly pushed back the release of the "Crown of the Ivory King" downloadable content for the "Dark Souls II" game. The initial release date was Sept. 24, but it will now be available in Steam and Xbox Live on Sept. 30 and in PlayStation Network on Oct. 1.

The final chapter of the trilogy will throw the players into an uninhabited land characterized by its blinding snowstorms and ice-covered monsters, which are described as the game's most difficult challenge yet.

Moreover, the add-on will also introduce a new gameplay to "Dark Souls 2," called followers. This means that players can accumulate followers or "allies" during the course of the DLC. These followers are AI-controlled characters who will help the player in the battle against the boss of the game. According to reports, there is strength in numbers and the more the followers a player has, the less difficult the fight will be.

The downloadable content for each chapter of the "Lost Crowns" trilogy was released on a monthly installment basis since July. It seems that the publisher of the game is slightly behind the schedule this time.

"Crown of the Ivory King" succeeded "Crown of the Sunken King" and "Crown of the Old Iron King."

"Dark Souls II" is a role-playing video game and the third installment of the series.  It is headed to PC, PS3, Xbox 360.

The game was developed by From Software, which also handled the publication of the video game in Japan. Bandai Namco Games published the game in other regions. The game was officially launched in North America on Mar. 11, 2014, and was released for PC gaming on Apr. 24.
