The dungeon crawling game "Darkest Dungeon" is getting a brand new downloadable content pack titled "Color of Madness" in 2018. The upcoming DLC will introduce something strange to the Hamlet. After a meteor crashed on the outskirts of town, those nearby were blinded in the aftermath.

It is up to the players and their team of rag-tag adventurers to venture into the unknown and find out what exactly is going on in the Hamlet. In line with that, the new DLC comes with fresh areas and additional enemies to slay.

Red Hook Studios, the game's developers uploaded a blog post detailing the upcoming "Color of Madness" update.

Inspired by cosmic horror author H.P. Lovecraft, players of "Darkest Dungeon" are in for an unsettling tide.  The game is already bleak, and not only that, the players will face a terrifying lore.

An official synopsis on the blog gives players a more in-depth sneak peek at what to expect shortly. "Some hateful shard of alien origin has streaked through the night sky, crashing into the old Miller's farm on the outskirts of the Hamlet! Those unfortunate enough to witness the Comet's arrival have been blinded by what they can only describe as a shifting, ephemeral hue of damnably abrasive intensity."

The "Color of Madness" DLC will also introduce a new quest type. Players will get lost in time and space as they fight enemies old and new on their way to the comet's crash site.

Aside from the quest, there will also be a new enemy faction. Composed of people who were affected by the comet's crash, the player's party will have to fight their way past farmhands who have been turned into nothing but empty husks. While the new enemies might seem overwhelming at first glance, the DLC will also include new trinkets to help players and their parties survive the aftermath of the crash.

No prices or specific dates were released for "Color of Madness," but the developers are already pushing for an earlier release sometime during Spring of 2018.
