Superhero movies are known for including Easter Eggs that give the more diligent viewers something additional to enjoy, and "Deadpool" had its fair share of them.

Considering the often comedic nature of the masked mercenary himself, it's not at all surprising to learn about the many references that are included in the film.

One subject in particular that the film loved to poke fun at was star Ryan Reynolds' previous attempt to take on the role of a superhero.

As folks may remember, Reynolds previously took on the titular role of the "Green Lantern" in the film adaptation featuring the popular comic book hero. Unfortunately, the film itself was not exactly a rousing success and the actor's latest movie made sure to remind fans that even Reynolds is susceptible to some clunkers.

During the film's opening, people can immediately spot a picture of someone dressed as the "Green Lantern." Later on in the film, Reynolds as "Deadpool" requests that his new suit not be made green or animated. The green and animated quip is a not-so-subtle nod to the iconic suit worn by the "Green Lantern."

Aside from taking some shots at Reynolds' film career, the movie also pays tribute to one of the creators of "Deadpool" himself in some easy-to-miss ways.

Early on in the movie, audiences can spot a coffee cup in the air clearly marked with the name "Rob L." The "Rob L." seen on the cup is a reference to none other than "Deadpool" co-creator Rob Liefeld.

The coffee cup reference is not the film's only Easter Egg that pays tribute to "Deadpool's" co-creator.

Further into the movie, people can see Reynolds's character walking into a bar and greeting some of the folks inside. The man Reynolds's character refers to as "Liefeld" is the co-creator himself actually making an appearance in the movie.

These are just a few of the Easter Eggs in the film, with many more about "Spider-Man" and other nuggets about "Deadpool's" background sprinkled in for good measure.

Moviegoers who stick around until the end also learn that a sequel to "Deadpool" is already in development, and in all likelihood, that film will also contain more than its share of Easter Eggs.
