'Deadpool 2' release date, plot rumors: Reshoots to add more Cable and Domino

Josh Brolin as Cable in "Deadpool 2."20th Century Fox

Josh Brolin has confirmed last week that they are doing some reshoots for "Deadpool 2." However, contrary to earlier claims that it was due to the sequel's disastrous test screenings, a new report states it is just to add more scenes of Cable and Domino (Zazie Beetz).

Citing multiple sources, Collider claims the results of the early screening were not actually bad. During the first one which took place January this year, "Deadpool 2" reportedly tested around 90 or 91 out of 100. After more editing, the studio had it tested again and this time, it scored somewhere in the high 90s. While the reception was positive, initial audiences called for more screen time for Cable and Domino.

"Both crowds in these screenings said they love Josh Brolin as Cable, they love Domino, but that they would like to see more of both characters in the movie," the publication's Editor-in-Chief, Steve Weintraub, said. "So when everyone in an audience gives notes and says 'we want more Domino, we want more Cable,' the smart play for the studio is, especially in the competitive summer is, 'okay, how can we do that? how can we add these characters?'"

Weintraub went on to debunk previous rumors that the movie received bad initial reception, specifically for its lackluster plot and wasting Morena Baccarin's character, Vanessa. The studio simply wanted to make the "Deadpool 2" even better; hence, the additional photography.

"And so that's the main thing about the additional photography," he explained. "There was no trainwreck. There was no, you know, 'Fans hate this movie.' It was, 'How can we make a really good movie even better?'"

"Deadpool 2" is debuting in a packed summer blockbuster season, sandwiched between two heavyweights – "Avengers Infinity War" on April 24 and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" on May 26. So, it makes sense Fox is making sure the film is as good as possible.

Directed by David Leitch, the "Deadpool" sequel hits theaters on May 18.
