"Deadpool 2" is moving forward, and while very little is known about it right now, other than the fact the character Cable will make an appearance after being teased in the first film, director Bryan Singer and writer-producer Simon Kinberg confirm that viewers almost caught a glimpse of a new "Deadpool 2" character in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In the audio commentary for "X-Men: Apocalypse" found in the DVD (via Cinema Blend),  Singer and Kinberg explain that the sequence teasing the villain, Mister Sinister, was not the original plan for the post-credits scene. The original idea was to introduce a character that would have a larger role in "Deadpool 2." Unfortunately, these plans fell apart.

"We did a tag that we really couldn't do - which I can stick on the DVD. It would have been for 'Deadpool,' and unfortunately it wouldn't have had the right costume for the character they're going to add to 'Deadpool 2.' I don't want to give that away," Singer explained.

Because the costume wouldn't suit the character properly and because it will create continuity issues with "Deadpool 2," the scene was replaced with the one teasing Mister Sinister, where the Essex Corps. employees enter the facility and find a blood vial from the Weapon X program.

According to Cinema Blend, there are three likely possibilities of who this mysterious character might be. The first and most obvious choice would be Cable, but that is only if the studios had already cast the character. No official announcement has been made, although there have been rumors of Kyle Chandler or Liam Neeson taking the role.

The two other possibilities include Psylocke (Olivia Munn) who had been prominently featured in "X-Men: Apocalypse" as one of the villains. In the original comic books, she later becomes a member of the titular heroes and also joins Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in the "X-Force" comic books.

Domino is the third stated possibility given that she is also rumored to be featured in "Deadpool 2," and there are speculations that actress McKenzie Davis has been tapped to play the character. However, this is still uncertain given that the studios have yet to confirm Domino will be in the movie.

"Deadpool 2" is slated to premiere in 2018.
