Earlier last year, cinemas all around the world were introduced to a Marvel character who loved to cuss, kill people and wore red and black spandex. "Deadpool" was a hit with audiences around the world and next year, the much-loved Marvel icon is to make a comeback on the screen in animated form.

The "Deadpool" animated series remains untitled but Deadline reports that FXX has given creator and producer Donald Glover and writer Stephen Glover a 10-episode slot. The series is to be produced by Marvel Television, FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios.

"How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth," executive producer Jeph Loeb said, as quoted by Variety. "We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with 'Legion' continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."

Ryan Reynold's performance in the live-action "Deadpool" film quickly overshadowed his disappointing role in his other superhero film, "Green Lantern." The film was no less than a success as it garnered almost $800 million internationally. Considering that it started with a $58 million budget, "Deadpool" was a box office success with fans all around the world raving about it and quoting all the memorable lines in the script. Social media also saw an onslaught of memes featuring Reynold's character.

While spoilers have not been released about what the animated series of "Deadpool" is going to be, fans are speculating that it will be very much like the R-rated superhero movie. This means that "Deadpool" animation will most likely adhere to the original adult action-comedy genre that it was first introduced and created as. The voice actors of the anticipated animated series are still unknown but it is expected to hit TV screens in 2018.
