Actor Ryan Reynolds has played a few superheroes in his career including Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern and Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. He portrayed the latter in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and will reprise that role in the upcoming film "Deadpool," but the actor has now confirmed that this will also be the last superhero he'll ever portray. 

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Reynolds has stated that he will no longer play any superhero roles after his portrayal of Wade Wilson in the upcoming "Deadpool" film. 

"We all want to be Batman alone at home in our specifically-sewn Bat pajammies, but no, I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this," Reynolds stated. 

However, this does not mean he won't suit up as Deadpool again. If the studio green lights a sequel or the character is included in other "X-Men" films, then he will return as the Merc with a Mouth. He may still return as Deadpool if the character will be included in "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum or the third and final "Wolverine" film. 

Other than Deadpool, however, it appears Reynolds will not jump forward to play any other comic book character henceforth. 

The actor's previous portrayals of comic book super heroes have not fared well. The "Green Lantern" film was a critical and financial disappointment for Warner Bros. and the studio decided to change plans and use "Man of Steel" as the first film in the DC Cinematic Universe instead. "Blade Trinity" and "RIPD" were also box office bombs which were not received well by fans and critics alike. 

Perhaps the most infamous role Reynolds took on was that of Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Many consider the portrayal as a disservice to the character — they sewed his lips tight when he is known as the Merc with a Mouth. Because of this film's failure, it took several years for a stand-alone "Deadpool" film to move forward. 

The upcoming "Deadpool" movie, however, disregards the events in "X-Men Origins" and serves as a reboot for the character. Whether successful or not, it will be the last superhero role that Reynolds will play.
