Season Three of "Defiance" comes back Friday with an episode where Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) and Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas) get trapped in their own past, compelling Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz) and Doc Yewll (Trenna Keating) to help them.

In this week's episode, titled "History Rhymes," TV Guide reports that Nolan and Irisa seem to have fallen in an accidental and potentially disastrous tour down memory lane. Their predicament will prompt the peace-loving town mayor and Indogene doctor to pull out all the stops to save them, and  even go to the extent of seeking the aid of the Omec.

Zap2it reports that Amanda and Doc Yewll will enlist the help of the Votan race to rescue their comrades. Meanwhile, Datak Tarr (Tony Curran) and Stahma Tarr (Jaime Murray) prepare a momentous move against Gen. Rahm Tak (Lee Tergesen), the ruthless and arrogant leader of the Votanis Collective.

"History Rhymes" follows events after the Season Three episode "Dead Air." In the previous episode, "Defiance" was rocked by a huge explosion at Votanis Collective. Berlin Rainier (Anna Hopkins) saw this as the perfect opportunity to exact revenge against Irisa while investigating the flareup.

While excavating a buried cache of weapons, Nolan and Amanda got caught and were forced to cooperate with each other to escape captivity. Meanwhile, Stahma turned into a seductress and tried to entice the mysterious Omec leader T'evgin (Conrad Coates) with sex. She injected him with a poison, but it appeared to have no effect on him. He later asked her why she tried to murder him.

The next episode, titled "Where The Apples Fell," is about Nolan and Berlin's pursuit of the Tarrs and the discovery of their connection to the Votanis Collective. Alak Tarr (Jesse Rath) will also face his future as a father, according to a preview from International Business Times

The "History Rhymes" episode airs at 8 p.m. Friday on SyFy.
