Dennis Rodman has checked into a rehabilitation facility a few days after he was arrested for driving under the influence.

According to Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, the former basketball superstar entered the Turning Point Rehabilitation Center in Paterson, New Jersey, in the hopes of curing his long struggle with alcohol abuse.

Last Saturday, the 56-year-old basketball legend was arrested for DUI in Newport Beach, California.

According to TMZ, Rodman was driving in the area around 11 p.m. when he was pulled off by Newport police for a traffic violation. He was reportedly given a sobriety test, which he failed. His breathalyzer test was said to have exceeded the .08 legal limit.

Sources said the retired basketball player was cooperative when he was handcuffed and put in a patrol car to the police station.

Rodman was retained in jail for seven hours. He was released of his own recognizance, when the police thought he was sober enough to fend for himself.

Prince later released a statement, saying "alcoholism has been a struggle on and off for Dennis the past 15 years." Prince shared the former NBA star is going through some "tough personal issues."

This is not the first time Rodman was busted for a DUI. He was arrested for the same offense in California back in December 1999. That was during his twilight years as a basketball player.

It is also not his first time in a rehabilitation center.

Back in 2014, Rodman also checked into an undisclosed facility after going back to the United States after organizing an exhibition basketball game in North Korea, featuring retired NBA players. The stress of putting the event together apparently got the better of him.

"What was potentially a historic and monumental event turned into a nightmare for everyone concerned," Prince told reporters at that time. "Dennis Rodman came back from North Korea in pretty rough shape emotionally."
