The Denver Broncos will look to rest one of their most important players in veteran quarterback Peyton Manning when they take on the Seattle Seahawks this Friday in their first out of four preseason games.

In a report by the Denver Post, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak may have given a hint that Manning and other veterans on the roster will be sitting out against Seattle.

Kubiak said according to the report, "Obviously, we have some guys with some nicks that have missed some time that we have to make some decisions on. We have a few guys that we'll talked about that have a lot of birthdays, so we'll talk about them too."

9NEWS reported that taking over Manning's post is 2012 second-round pick quarterback Brock Osweiler who will lead the first-team offense which includes running back C.J. Anderson.

Among the players who will be taking a rest with Manning, according to the report, are inside linebackers Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall, tight end Owen Daniels, outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

"I think you always like to be in there. You do. Certainly, when the coach tells us—I think he'll tell us tonight, maybe tomorrow, how much we're going to go — you accept that," Manning said after practice last Wednesday, according to 9NEWS.

Resting Manning might be the best thing to do for Kubiak to prevent any unwanted injuries since they are going against the Seahawks who arguably have the best defense in the National Football League (NFL).

The preseason game will be a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII where Seattle won their first ever Super Bowl, doing it in a convincing manner as they beat the Broncos 43–8.

Last regular season, the Broncos were in a roll, finishing it with a 12–4 record, but were unable to make it past the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Playoffs, with the latter leading 24–13.
