This is a huge game for both teams, as the Denver Broncos look to force their way into the top 2 seeding positions in the AFC. Coming into this game they have slipped into the third seed position, meaning they will have to take part in the AFC Wild Card Round.

The advantage of gaining a top two seeding position and getting a first round bye in the Playoffs cannot be understated, and the Broncos will be looking to put in the hard work in the coming three weeks to ensure they can get one of those top two spots.

That means they must win today. However, they face a strong Steelers team that is itself in the Playoff hunt. But the Steelers arguably need the win even more than the Broncos as the Steelers are currently out of the Playoff spots and lagging in the 7th seed position.

Pittsburgh come into this game on 8-5, but that is not good enough as it stands, and the 9-5 New York Jets, and the 8-5 Kansas City Chiefs have the 5th and 6th seed positions ahead of the Steelers' game today against the Broncos.

Earlier in the week, the Dallas Cowboys were finally put out of their misery and confirmed as eliminated as postseason contenders. On Saturday night the Cowboys hosted the New York Jets, and although the game went right down to the wire, Dallas were yet again on the wrong side of a tight result to leave them lagging on 4-10 and out of the Playoff picture.

The Jets moved to 9-5 after Randy Bullock kicked a 40 yard field goal with just 36 seconds remaining to hand New York a 19-16 win on the night. The field goal was set up via a Ryan Fitzpatrick 43 yard pass to Kenbrell Thompkins as the quarterback continues to establish himself.

The win for the Jets puts them half a game ahead of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs who remain on 8-5 coming into Sunday's games. The race for the two Wild Card sports in the AFC will likely go down to a contest between these three teams, and the Jets need to make sure they win out to give themselves the best chance of making the postseason.

The New York Jets appear to be hitting their best form at the right time, as they have now gained their fourth straight win in a row - the first time the franchise has done that since back in 2010.
