It's not easy to ignore Kanye West's return on Twitter in the last few weeks, as the rapper fired off one controversial statement after the other on music, politics, social issues and religion.

West's friends and followers have actually been reacting and debating over his Twitter messages. Rapper Derek Minor, in particular, responded to one of West's posts about a theological issue.

The "Famous" singer wrote on April 22 that he doesn't "subscribe to the concept of God fearing." "If God is love and love it's the opposite of fear then...to fear God makes no sense," West said.

Minor, who is Christian, replied to his friend that fear in God is similar to one's reverence towards a parent and it's not about being afraid of a "bad villain in the sky." He went on to say that fear of God is about "knowing that God loves us but also disciplines us," and added, "[It's] always for our good and betterment."

Meanwhile, West also triggered more reactions from people when he said that slavery is a choice in a live interview with TMZ.

"When you hear about slavery for 400 years? That sounds like a choice," West said. "You was there for 400 years and it's all of y'all. It's like we're mentally in prison."

Director Spike Lee posted a photo of himself with West on Instagram. In the caption, the director castigated West for his "uneducated comments." He also told The Hollywood Reporter that he'll pray for the rapper.

A Christian human rights group leader also said the West's comments on slavery won't help victims of modern slavery in the form of bonded labor. David Westlake of the International Justice Mission said via Premier that generations of families remain trapped in debts today that can only be repaid through work, which never happens.
