The latest update coming to "Destiny" is set to drastically change the effectiveness of weapons inside the game.

The weapon changes are expected to have a significant impact on several of the game modes within "Destiny," including co-operative and player-versus-player (PVP) options.

One of the most notable changes being made to the game's weapons is the overhaul being implemented for the Gjallarhorn. The Gjallarhorn has been one of the players' favorite weapons inside the game, and it can also be arguably regarded as the most powerful firearm in "Destiny," according to Eurogamer. With the arrival of the 2.0 update, players can expect that the Gjallarhorn will be significantly weaker than what it once was.

According to Bungie Inc. designer Jon Weisnewski, the game's developers chose to nerf Gjallarhorn for the very same reason players within the game liked to use it the most. Given the significant firepower of the weapon, players within "Destiny" were operating in groups where the Gjallarhorn was the sole firearm being used, and the game's developers were apparently not a fan of that trend.

Aside from the Gjallarhorn, there are other oft-used weapons in "Destiny" that are set to get nerfed with the 2.0 update. Other notable weapons being weakened include Hawkmoon, Thorn, and The Last Word.  Hand cannons are also being nerfed with the arrival of the latest update and even the Final Round sniper rifles that Trials of Osiris players like to use will not be as effective once the sweeping round of changes have been made.

Bungie is not nerfing all the weapons in the game, as some are even getting a boost with the latest update, according to Kotaku

Auto-rifles in particular are being significantly enhanced with the 2.0 update, so players can now explore that option when playing "Destiny."

The 2.0 update for "Destiny" will be released on September 15. It will be debut along with "The Taken King" expansion.
