'Destiny 2' lays down the law, bans cheaters
First-person, multiplayer roleplaying game "Destiny 2" came to the PC earlier in October. Since then fans have been worrying about potential cheaters ruining the online fun for everyone. "Destiny's" developers retaliated by coming up with a ban policy, however, a handful of people aren't too happy about it.
Reportedly, players have already been banned from the game, and a handful is complaining about their unjust banning. These players claim to have been playing the game fairy when they were banned by the developers for no reason. Whether or not this is true is unsure, but the claims have caught the attention of both the developers (Bungie) and several other game-related news websites.
The approach developers Bungie took to stopping cheaters, was a software that prevented third-party applications from interfering with "Destiny 2's" code. Unfortunately, according to entertainment news website BGR, this same preventative software ended up causing problems for streamers. Aside from that, it also interfered with other non-harmful applications such as chat screens and other things.
Interferences aside, some of the players who were reportedly banned for no reason, apparently had cheat engine installed on their computers. While they weren't cheating on "Destiny 2" they did have the engine on their computers in order to tweak with other games. "Destiny 2's" preventative measures apparently caught the cheat engine, and players who did not specifically cheat on "Destiny 2" were still banned.
Game Rant reported on Bungie Community Manager Cozmo's response. While players will not get banned for merely having cheat engines installed, they will get banned for running these cheat engines while "Destiny 2" is playing, even if they do not use it to give themselves an unfair advantage.
Bungie then went on to warn players to shut off all cheat engines when playing the game. Constantly running them in the background would also lead to bans.
The easiest way to not get banned is to keep one's cheat engines away and play fairly.
