'Destiny 2' news: Update 1.1.1.1 out now, brings 'Masterworks' weapons and various in-game fixes

Bungie releases update 1.1.1.1 for "Destiny 2" which added "Masterworks" weapons and various bug fixes as well. Bungie

The latest "Destiny 2" update has just been released. Update 1.1.1.1 adds "Masterworks" weapons for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Update 1.1.1.1 for "Destiny 2" is now live after the scheduled maintenance that happened on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The game was unplayable for a few hours on Tuesday as the patch was carefully integrated with the servers.

The update comes a week after Bungie released update 1.1.0 to "Destiny 2." Update 1.1.0 brought major enhancements to the game, bringing dynamic 4K resolution to the PS4 Pro and native 4K resolution for the Xbox One X, as well as HDR support for both consoles.

While update 1.1.0 focused on the game's graphics, update 1.1.1.1 for "Destiny 2" focused on gameplay elements. The most notable addition brought by update 1.1.1.1 is the availability of "Masterworks" weapons. According to Bungie's official patch notes, legendary weapons will now drop for characters with Power level of 250 and above. Additionally, "Masterworks" will provide bonus weapon stats, as well as generate Orbs on multi-kills.

Another significant addition brought by update 1.1.1.1 on "Destiny 2" includes changes to Xur's inventory. Xur now sells the exotic "Fated Engram" which lets players earn Exotic items, as well as the "Three of Coins" consumable item that increases the chance of dropping Exotics. In addition, Tess Everis, Zavala, and Shaxx now sell a new type of "Fireteam gift" consumable item and will reward players every time they complete an activity.

Various bugs in "Destiny 2" were also addressed by update 1.1.1.1. Before the update was implemented, the trace rifle "Prometheus Lens" was reportedly overpowered and caused all kinds of chaos during "Crucible" events.

"Prometheus Lens" is the second trace rifle and was brought by "Destiny 2's" latest (and first) expansion, "Curse of Osiris." The expansion was released earlier this month on Dec. 5.
