"Destiny 2" is one of Bungie's much anticipated video games this year. Following the success of the first "Destiny" title, the sequel has proven to live up to the hype, getting positive reviews from new and old-time players alike. In fact, "Destiny 2" has just been named the best-selling game of 2017.

One month after the release of "Destiny 2" in Xbox One and PlayStation 4, several copies of the game have already been sold. According to the latest NPD Group report, the current sales already surpassed every other new video game released in the same timeframe. As reported by Engadget, "Destiny 2" is now the highest-selling video game of 2017.

The latest sales figures for "Destiny 2" also show that the game is the third best-selling video game within the last 12 months. Bungie's action role-playing game was surpassed only by "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Battlefield 1," which were released in September and October respectively. It is expected that sales will continue to rise in the coming months, given that the PC version of "Destiny 2" has been launched recently. Another thing that will maintain the hype is the upcoming first downloadable content (DLC) for the game, which is expected to arrive in December.

In other news, Bungie revealed that players cannot expect a Halloween event this month in "Destiny 2." As reported by GameSpot, Bungie's community manager David "Deej" Dague said on Twitter that the "Festival of the Lost" Halloween celebration in the game will skip this year.

To recall, the "Festival of the Lost" is an annual Halloween event in "Destiny 1," although that is no longer the case with the sequel. The event featured the social space called The Tower with a spooky design, while the added horror-themed contents include creepy masks and customized items.

Nevertheless, "Destiny 2" players can still expect an exciting game event coming soon. It was announced that the first DLC for the sequel is "The Dawning," a winter-themed competition pitting players against each other with a certain time limit.
