"Destiny 2" is in a controversial spotlight right now, as players of the first-person shooter (FPS) have recently found out that the developers of the game might not be giving them the rewards they were due.

Apparently, the endgame player population of "Destiny 2" have suggested that the game diminishing player XP was a ploy set up by Bungie, the developer, and Activision, the publisher, to compel them to purchase loot-boxes, presumably with real-world money.

This has caused an outrage from most of their players, and Bungie itself has admitted, via their official blog for the game, that the experience points (XP) system was indeed neutered for specific activities.

Since the players' discovery of the said level 20+ endgame XP system, speculations have arisen that it was aimed at making "Destiny 2's" own loot box version more attractive. These loot boxes come in the form of Bright Engram and serve similar purposes.

Website Eurogamer has found it troublesome that Bungie did not address this player concern regarding the Bright Engram speculations. Even the statement released by the developers themselves did not mention or discuss the allegations from the players. They also have not explained why they utilized the said system in the first place.

Regardless, the developers are now scrapping the said XP system temporarily, perhaps until they find a more viable alternative to it.

"Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we've heard the same from the community," the official statement read.

Still, this could leave some players wondering whether the company would have made this decision if the tedious XP system had not been discovered. Rest assured, "Destiny 2's" endgame should now be less strenuous for veteran players since all XPs gained from various activities have been adjusted to reflect the developer's statement.

The update has now been implemented for "Destiny 2," which is available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows.
