The "Rise of Iron" DLC is touted to be the very last DLC expansion for "Destiny," and the developers at Bungie are speculated to begin work on "Destiny 2." While nothing has been confirmed as of the moment, one popular rumor that is getting traction is that "Destiny 2" will feel like a whole new game, and it may even launch for the PC.

According to Kotaku, the rumor began when NeoGAF user bennny_a said that a friend of his who works for Activision confirmed that the game was launching for PC and not just for consoles. Activision reportedly told employees during an internal meeting.

User benny_a also states that during the meeting, it was announced that the Activision-owned company Vicarious Visions would be aiding Bungie in developing the game. Kotaku notes that this rumor was also spreading a few weeks back, giving more credence to the NeoGAF post.

The report further points out that launching the game on PC would open Bungie's franchise to a very large consumer base, one that was left out in the first game.

It is also stated that the developers and publishers want "Destiny 2" to feel like a true sequel instead of just another DLC pack for the first game. This may require the game to force players to abandon their old characters, the first game's setting, and items.

The report states that "The Taken King" DLC and all that followed were a soft-reboot for the first "Destiny" game, allowing the franchise to fix what didn't work in the base game. "Destiny 2" is being designed to feel like a sequel and not just an expansion of what was already done.

Kotaku further states that if Bungie decides that they will not allow players to import characters from the first game to the next, they may offer bonuses to players who have spent hundreds of hours and money in the series as a form of consolation.
