There is no denying that "Destiny" is a highly successful first-person shooter video game, but it has been already been running for two years. Fans are now looking forward to its sequel, which is expected to arrive next year and where they can carry their characters over from the first game and continue their progress.

Bungie and Activision has a grand plan for its game. "Destiny 2" will be literally a continuation of the game and every player will have everything from the first game to be carried over to the next game, this is according to Bungie's David "DeeJ" Dague.

He said to IGN previously, "It's been no secret that we have a ten-year plan for the expansion and evolution of this franchise, and it's something that we're always dreaming about."

Dague added, "The idea is that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."

That being said, fans are speculating that the upcoming sequel will be as big as the original game, with the three classes complete with two sub-classes each. Four planetary zones are included as well. As is common with other games, it will include many new missions and strikes and might even carry multiplayer maps, Forbes pointed out.

As far as game development is concerned, IGN mentioned in another report that majority of Bungie's developmental team is already working full time on "Destiny 2," and is right on track for a 2017 release date, according to Eric Hirshberg , Activision Publishing CEO.

However, Hirshberg did not elaborate on the details of the game's progress or things that players can expect from the upcoming game.
