The sequel to the successful game "Destiny" is reportedly on its way and is rumored to arrive in spring 2016. That is still unconfirmed, but according to Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of game publisher Activision, the new game is currently in the works, which should be good news for "Destiny" fans.

"Work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release," Hirshberg said in a post-earnings financial call last Nov. 4.

Activision did not release any information about "Destiny 2," but the game publisher will run the franchise for 10 years. The contract between Activision and game developer Bungie will include multiple sequels for the game. The publisher teased that the game developer has a lot of ideas in mind for "Destiny."

According to Venture Capitol Post, some of the achievements and progress of the players from the original "Destiny" game can be transferred in the sequel.

"For 'Destiny 2,' the idea is that the Guardian that you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time," David Dague, community manager for "Destiny," said in an interview with IGN

Since its release, "Destiny" nestled on top of the charts after it was officially delivered to game consoles – PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Meanwhile, the "Destiny: House of Wolves" DLC leaked online with the unconfirmed release date of May 19. The information came from Reddit user megamanexe4 who allegedly got the information from the game's files. The expansion pack is set to bring new locations, missions, strikes, and raids. Moreover, "Destiny" developer Luke Smith will revamp the loot reward system in the upcoming expansion pack.

However, there is no official word from Bungie or Activision about the concrete release date of the new DLC.
