It may be a while before fans receive any new word about "Destiny 2."

Previously, well circulated rumors about "Destiny 2" had suggested that the sequel to Bungie's first-person shooter would be announced sometime this year.

That was the case until new rumors began to emerge, suggesting that September release date for "Destiny 2" was no longer coming to fruition.

According to sources close to Bungie who were spoken to by Kotaku, the sequel had now been moved out of its originally planned September launch for reasons that are still not entirely clear.

That plans for the sequel have reportedly changed dramatically is no longer as surprising as it was back when the rumors first began to trickle out.

Ever since word first came out that "Destiny 2" has been delayed, a variety of changes have also been made at Bungie, arguably the most significant of which is the appointment of a new CEO.

Gone is former CEO Harold Ryan and in his place is long-time Bungie employee Pete Parsons.

The exact reasons behind why Ryan may have left and why Parsons has taken his place remain unclear, although such a significant change in Bungie's power structure figures to have at least some kind of long-term effects on their projects.

It's unclear if swapping CEOs may have affected "Destiny 2," but it would be difficult to imagine that things did not change at least a little bit.

With such uncertainty surrounding Bungie, it's hard to get a good read on what the studio may have planned for "Destiny 2" now.

According to Moviepilot, there's a chance that "Destiny 2" may not be announced until next year, meaning the delay could be quite a significant one.

Unfortunately for fans, it may take a while before more clarity regarding "Destiny 2" emerges. All they can do now is hope that more specific details concerning "Destiny 2" will come out sooner rather than later.
