'Destiny' ammo bug fix release date end of this month

For the past couple of months, "Destiny" players have been complaining about a bug that causes them to lose heavy weapon ammo, which is valuable in the game. Now, there's great news to all players as Bungie will roll out a major fix by month's end.

The glowing purple ammunition that the players are losing is used in high caliber weapons like the Rocket Launcher and Machine Gun. They collect this ammo from the field or purchase it from the Gunsmith with Glimmer. The bug causes them to lose the heavy weapon ammo in PVE activities.

Bungie sandbox engineer Jon Cable and the rest of the team said that they have identified the issue and is currently working on a fix.

"The basic flaw here is an ordering problem. Our inventory system creates your weapons when your characters spawn. When that happens, it tries to restore the same fraction of ammo that you had when you died. The bug occurred because the weapon is created before capacity modifiers from armor perks are applied, so the persisted fraction yields fewer rounds," Cable wrote in Bungie's website.

Cable added that it took the team quite a while to release a fix as it is risky and involves player profiles, investment, sandbox, perks, and weapon management. He said that it took him a while to fix the bug without causing other problems.

Meanwhile, the "House of Wolves" DLC is slated for release on March 10 packing new locations, missions, strikes, and raids. One of the updates pertains to the reward system of the game. According to "Destiny" developer Luke Smith, the team is revamping the loot reward system in the upcoming expansion pack.

The developer will most likely reveal more details as its release date nears. The expansion pack is available via Destiny Expansion Pass for $34.99, or individually for $19.99 each.
