Activision announced that the "Dark Below" expansion pack will be released on Dec. 9.

According to the publisher of the game, the upcoming DLC of the top-notch video game "Destiny" will include new weapons, gear, story quests, multiplayer arenas, Strikes, and a six-player Raid. Game developer Bungie released a few screenshots of the expansion pack.

And there's more great news fo "Destiny" players: the expansion pack will also include new player multiplayer maps, namely Pantheon, Skyshock, and The Caludron. Moreover, PlayStation players will have access to an additional cooperative Strike, The Undying Mind. The maximum Light Level will also be increased to 32 with the addition of five new Bounty slots.

The "Dark Below" expansion pack costs $19.99, but will also be available as part of the "Destiny Expansion Pass" that costs $34.99 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

Meanwhile, the second downloadable content of the game, "House of Wolves," is bound for release early next year. The game developer and publisher have not yet revealed the official release date of the second DLC.

Before the release of the "Dark Below" expansion pack, a lot of leaks emerged online. Gamers got a glimpse of the contents of the expansion due to some glitches.  Unfinished maps were also spotted in some areas of the game. 

Bungie's David "DeeJ" Dague responded to the leaks confirming that the expansion packs are still under development and is slated for release on Dec. 9. Obviously, the second DLC is on the works, too. Bungie studio outlined some of its plans for more updates that will be released in the next few months.

Aside from the aforementioned expansion packs, the game developer will have to work on the bugs and issues found in the game. Moreover, the security of the game must be strengthened as a group of hackers attacked the servers of "Destiny" last month.
