Bungie has already confirmed that a major April update is in the works, ready for release on April 12. However, the developer still has a surprise left for its fans, particularly for PlayStation 4 players. Apparently, the console exclusivity deals for "Destiny" are still alive, as the April update brings a PS4-exclusive item.

According to a tweet from Sony PlayStation, Guardians of "Destiny" for the PlayStation 4 will be getting an Exotic sniper rifle when the update rolls out this month. The company teased, "Guardians, meet Zen Meteor, a new PlayStation-exclusive Exotic sniper rifle coming to @DestinyTheGame on April 12." However, since the announcement was made at the start of the month, some fans may have deemed the post to be an April Fool's joke, prompting Sony PlayStation to further confirm the announcement.

However, the PS4-exclusive Zen Meteor sniper rifle is only a timed exclusive, according to EuroGamer. The industry observer said that Xbox One players can expect the weapon to also come to their console versions at a later date, much like what Bungie did with strikes, maps and in-game items in past updates.

Meanwhile, the April 12 update is said to be a major roll-out for "Destiny" as it introduces some radical tweaks and improvements to the game. According to Express UK, one of the evident changes coming with the upcoming update is the increase of reputation rewards.

Reportedly, a recent Bungie livestream quoted Victoria Dollbaum, a senior designer with the company, as saying: "In the April update, we wanted to improve the player experience in terms of how you earn reputation and how you're rewarded on rank up. Your time is valuable, so we've increased the amount of reputation you'll gain by completing the activities you enjoy. We've heard that some collectors out there weren't able to obtain the items they were looking for, so we've adjusted those too."
