Guardians who had been waiting for the first major "Destiny" update for this year were not disappointed as developer Bungie stayed on schedule to release the new patch. Update 2.2.0 for Bungie's sci-fi, space-age shooter is now live.

In patch notes detailed on the studio's website, many of the changes and improvements coming with the patch 2.2.0 focus on introducing new items and activities for "Destiny."

The update unlocks a new main quest, "Pretender to the Throne," with major item rewards such as the new Taken Sword. The Prison of Elders also gets the new "Challenge of Elders" activity, which is hard enough to warrant Light level to be adjusted to 320. In addition, a new playlist on the Level 41 Prison of Elders has also been unlocked, and the new mission has a higher chance of spawning Taken enemies.

Aside from the new missions, patch 2.2.0 also introduced a number of new items and gears for Guardians to choose from. Complete sets of armor and weapons are now available as well as other Exotic items. In addition, the new update brings new items such as Sterling Treasures, which guarantee new item sets for every player per game cycle. There is also a new Chroma item, which players can use to customize their armor sets, weapons, and other gears.

Meanwhile, in terms of new items, some hardcore Guardians have been asking if the fan-favorite Gjallarhorn will make a comeback and were expecting the item to appear in the April update. However, the Year Two weapon upgrade is not included on the list.

An exclusive from Games Radar may give hope to fans. According to the industry follower, Bungie will be including a newer "Year Two" edition of Gjallarhorn in succeeding updates.
