'Destiny Expansion 2: House of Wolves' DLC news: Update to support gear upgrades

The upcoming expansion for "Destiny" will allow players to upgrade their gear to the highest level.

According to game developer Bungie, the new downloadable content for the game, dubbed as the "House of Wolves" expansion pack, will let Guardians upgrade their Legendary equipment using an item called Etheric Light. The item can be looted from the new modes: in a cooperative arena-based combat mode called the Prison of Elders, and in a PvP arena called the Trial of Osiris. The item can also be picked up by gamers playing in Nightfall and Iron Banner events, so the DLC pack is not necessarily required for players to upgrade their weapons and armors. However, the collection of items would probably take some time.

Moreover, new Legendary weapons come with "House of Wolves," and players can reforge them by talking to the Tower Gunsmith.

Meanwhile, for Exotic Gear users, the upgrade will not require the Etheric Light item. Instead, Guardians may use and combine other materials with Exotic Shards. In the new DLC, however, Xur, the vendor of rare items, will no longer offer the shard burning service. With the "House of Wolves," players may now go to a new NPC located at the Tower. Called the Speaker, this vendor will stock Shards and sell them for Motes of Light, and exchange items like Ascendant and Radiant Shards.

In addition, upgraded armor in the new expansion pack will max out the level cap to 34, and Legendary and Exotic weapons will increase their damage from 331 to a maximum of 365.

"Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves" will come out on May 19. "Destiny" is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
