'Destiny: House of Wolves' DLC release won't bring a Raid but a new Arena

Bungie recently released a cinematic live trailer for "House of Wolves," the second expansion pack for "Destiny." However, contrary to what many believed and expected, the add-on will not have a Raid.

"House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity," Bungie Community Manager Eric Osborne said in a post on the Bungie blog. "We didn't make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year."

While that, no doubt, is a disappointment for "Destiny" gamers who came to love those types of missions, what makes "House of Wolves" special is its introduction of a new arena called Prison of Elders. Bungie explains this new feature as "a new cooperative end game activity focused on variety, replayability and skill." More details about this activity will be revealed soon as well as information on how upgrading path for gear works.

"Next week we'll be kicking things off by revealing the upgrade path for your existing Exotic and Legendary gear. We know this is an important subject for you," the community manager went on to say, in recognition of the mix-up evoked by "Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below."

Alongside the discussion on the process, Bungie will also be showing some walkthrough footages on The Reef— all scheduled on April 22.

Osborne also promises that when that bit is out of the way, they will go on to discuss more about the Prison of Elders and the Trials of Osiris, which, according to rumor mills, is a competitive multiplayer event that offers end-game gear as rewards. A gameplay for it will be shown on April 29.

Going back to Osborne's statement on the creation of a new Raid, Bungie seems to be working on a much bigger expansion pack. For now, "Destiny" players can focus on downloading "Destiny" update 1.1.2, which is available today.

"Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves" will be available starting May 19.
