Bungie has released the The Taken King 2.1.0 update while revealing the plans to release smaller, time-limited updates for "Destiny" instead of coming up with full-blown DLC.

The Taken King 2.1.0 update was rolled by the game studio Thursday, containing several fixes and improvements for the game as well as the Sparrow Racing League mode.

Based on the announcement on the studio's official webpage, the Sparrow Racing League is now happening live in the Tower and will last until Dec. 29. Players can start accessing the Sparrow Racing Quests and Bounties and join the race to unlock the latest line of Sparrow Racing League rewards by reaching out to Amanda Holliday in the Tower.

The latest "Destiny" 2.1.0 update also comes with several fixes and improvements. One of the issues fixed is the occasional problem of players when they get stuck in a slow sprint speed. The game studio also added the ability to use charged melee attacks while they are tethered by the Hunter's Shadowshot ability.

There are also several changes made on the game's weapons. These include the minor increase in the base damage for auto rifles and the reduced base damage from pulse rifles. The hand cannon also has an upgrade in its ADS Accuracy for it to have a more reliable shooting rate when used in close to medium range.

The latest "Destiny" 2.1.0 update also comes with several new exotics, including:

  • The First Curse
  • Hawkmoon
  • The Chaperone
  • Dragon's Breath
  • Fabian's Strategy
  • Black Spindle
  • Super Good Advice
  • Sleeper Simulant

Other new items like the Sparrow Racing League Record Book, the Sparrow Toolkit, and a Custom Horn are also included in the news "Destiny" update.

Meanwhile, the game studio's senior designer Derek Carroll recently talked to Eurogamer to discuss Bungie's plans for "Destiny: Year Two."

When asked about what the players should look forward to regarding the story content of "Destiny Year Two," Carroll said that the studio decided to feature event-based updates instead of large-scale DLC packs.

"With Taken King we are moving to a more event-based model - things like Festival of the Lost and Sparrow racing, which is our winter event, and then smaller events such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris every weekend," Caroll said. "This way everybody who's an owner of Taken King can enjoy these things."
