"Destiny" players will have plenty to look forward to during this holiday season, as a variety of events and new items will soon be heading their way.

First off, players who still haven't tried their hand at the ongoing Sparrow Racing League will want to make up for lost time starting now as the event will soon be coming to a close.

The racing event will be wrapping up on Dec. 29, but the good news is that something else will be taking its place right away.

Dec. 29 also happens to be the day that Iron Banner will make its return to "Destiny," and it will be rewarding players with some items to close the year, according to Express UK.

Examples of items that players can obtain via the upcoming Iron Banner event include new weapons such as auto rifles and shotguns, as well as new pieces of armor for their characters.

More details about the upcoming Iron Banner will likely be released closer to the return of the event next week.

Aside from the year-end events in "Destiny," players can also look forward to getting new items inside the game to start next year.

According to GameSpot, every "Destiny" player will be receiving 15 Strange Coins along with 15 Motes of Light on Jan. 7, 2016, which should help them get off to a better start in 2016. Players will be able to claim these rewards from the Postmaster located inside the Tower.

In addition to the free items, Bungie is also offering a new emblem to "Destiny" players.

Players who want to be in consideration to receive the new emblem will have to play the game any time between Jan. 7 and Jan. 10 next year, although they will need to take part in an activity so that Bungie can note that they played.

The new emblems will be handed out to lucky "Destiny" players on Jan. 12, 2016.
