Developer Bungie recently held a livestream update. In the presentation, it was revealed that a major update is scheduled to arrive for the studio's space-age first-person shooter, "Destiny."

Details about the upcoming update have been posted on Bungie's week update page. The announcement centered on general details on what the major update will bring, and when players can expect the patch to start rolling out.

According to Bungie, Guardians can expect the major update to release on April 12. Although the update is not part of any major expansion for "Destiny," the developer has stated that players may expect new content to roll out for "Destiny: The Taken King." The major expansion includes new challenges like additional quests, Strikes, and Bounties. Story-wise, the new missions continue where "The Taken King" left off as the Taken War is still raging in-game.

Gameplay will also undergo a drastic change in the upcoming April update. According to Mashable, one of the much-awaited tweaks in the new update is the refreshed "Prison of Elders." The gameplay mode was first introduced with the second DLC, "House of Wolves," but no improvements were made to the mode even when the current "The Taken King" DLC rolled out last year.

In the April update, "Prison of Elders" will add a new level 41 challenge, and from Bungie's description, the new quest will be challenging enough – the studio said that the upcoming level mission is recommended only for Guardians with a minimum Light 260 level. In addition, there is a level 42 challenge called the "Challenge of Elders."

Since harder challenges will be introduced in the new update, rewards like the level cap will also be improved with the upcoming April update. Light levels will increase to 320 from 335, and item drops will also be improved, particularly for high-risk missions like "King's Fall" and "Court of Oryx."
