"Destiny" will soon be offering microtransactions to players.

According to the game's developer, Bungie, the microtransactions being added to the game will allow players to get new items.

For now, it is expected that the items players can purchase through these microtransactions will be mostly made up of emotes, Polygon reported. Other cosmetic items may also be offered through microtransactions in "Destiny," although it does not appear that Bungie is planning on releasing anything else that may have a larger impact on the game itself.

Players will be able to purchase the new emotes from the vendor Tess Everis. At the start, Everis will be offering 18 different emotes for players to choose from, although it's unclear if more will be added later on.

Those who want to get the new emotes can head on over to the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Games Store to buy the new currency known as Silver that will be needed for these microtransactions.

The prices of the emotes themselves have yet to be revealed, although Bungie has emphasized that these will be completely optional purchases.

The move to integrate microtransactions is reportedly part of Bungie's plan to overhaul the way they manage downloadable content (DLC), Kotaku reported.

Bungie is reportedly planning to move away from their habit of releasing big expansion packs similar to how they did previously. Instead, the developer will now be releasing more free missions and quests.

Bungie's decision to move away from offering major expansion packs is not being viewed as the developer also steering clear of big DLC drops. The developer could still come out with big DLC packs even if they will be free of charge.

The new DLC plan is expected to start soon and could stretch all the way to fall of next year when the next expansion known as "Destiny 2" is scheduled to arrive. "Destiny 2" will reportedly cost $60.
